Emma is now officially rolling over. She is mastering this, and well as shuffling herself around in a circle on the floor. Yikes...she is mobile! She entertains herself quite easily playing with her toys, or looking at herself in a mirror. She loves going outside. We go for a walk around the neighborhood every night, and she loves looking around at everything. Emma went on her first hike in Forest Park for Ken's birthday this week. She didn't seem too happy at first, but warmed up to the idea of hiking by the end of the trail. She seems to really enjoy her new carrier as well. She is getting to big to carry around in her carseat now, so Ken and I are very glad she enjoys the carrier.
She has started making the raspberry noises again, after a brief hiatus. It's cute...but a little messy given that she is also drooling quite a bit now. No teeth yet though.
She likes to pretend read too. She looks like she is reading a book or the newspaper for a few seconds, and then gradually brings everything to her mouth for a little taste!

4 months!!!

Emma turned 4 months this past week, and is growing like a weed! She weighed in at 13 # 15.5 oz, and was 25 3/4 inches long. She is developing quite the personality too. Her last week was spent vibrating her lips whenever she was awake. We thought this was really cute and funny, until she was doing this ALL THE TIME! We decided to cut down on the number of raspberries (or whatever those things are called when you blow on her stomach) we gave her...as she is apparently quite impressionable now. She has also taken a liking to putting anything and everything in her mouth. Beware if you get to close...she will attach herself onto your chin, or whatever else she can get her mouth around. She is now able to put her toes in her mouth too. I think her cousin Haley taught her that trick when we were visiting MN last month. She is also trying to sit up on her own...but she is not quite there yet.

It has been HOT here...so we broke out Emma's sun hat and sun glasses, and enjoyed a little of the nice weather. She is quite the little model. I think she was actually trying to impersonate Elton John in the sunglasses photo.

Midwest trip

We made it back to Portland this week after a quick 10 day trip back to the midwest. One of Ken's cousins got married, so we got to see a lot of family and friends which was great. We visited my family first, and then headed to Madison for the latter part of the trip. Emma was able to meet her uncle Nathan, aunt Shannon and cousin Haley for the first time. And also met her Grandpa Dyreson, Great grandma and grandpa Dyreson, and her uncle Jeff, aunt Deirdre, and cousin Carter for the first time as well. She was definitely enjoying all the attention she got from everyone.

Emma's 3+months!

So Emma is now 3 months old, and her new thing is squealing at the top of her lungs. She does this when she is happy and sad, and it is quite charming.

I went back to work a couple of weeks ago, and Emma started daycare. She seems to be adjusting fine. It was pretty difficult leaving her there the first day...thank goodness Ken was there to drag me out of the daycare, otherwise I'd likely still be there trying to say goodbye. It is all getting a little easier now, although I don't think I will ever get used to the 2+hour ritual of trying to get ready and out the door in the morning. We did make the time to take the "first day of daycare pictures" with mom and dad though.

Today was Ken's first father's day, and I think he enjoyed his day of freedom from dirty diaper changing duties. Emma was more than happy to sport her new "my dad rocks" teeshirt....Although it only lasted about 5 minutes before she spit up her breakfast all over herself. (We decided a "my dad rock's" bib would have been more practical).

We are all looking forward to our trip to the midwest to visit our family next week...so more pictures to come after our vacation.
