Finger lickin' good!

Okay...Just one more picture of Emma eating, and then I will try to capture some pictures of her without food all over her face. I don't know when I became addicted to photographing Emma while she eats...but I think Ken is now concerned that we will never be able to eat another meal without it being forever captured on film. Emma was trying some squash the other day, and started gagging when it hit her mouth (I hope she becomes a little more tolerant of my cooking a little later in life). However, the rice cereal is still a hit, and she likes to lick her fingers clean after that tasty treat.

Look at us...We can STAND!

Oh the changes that a month or two will bring. Cash came over to hang with Em last Thursday. I was expecting a nice quiet evening, watching to kids play together on the floor. Instead, we got a reality check of what is to come in the near future. Cash is a mere 3 weeks older than Emma, but man has he developed some leg strength. It wasn't a couple of seconds after sitting him on the floor next to Emma, that he was pulling himself up on our coffee table, crawling after Darby, or doing one-legged squats (I think this must be part of his workout routine that has made him so buff!) Emma was definitely intrigued by Cash's new skills. She took one look at him standing next to the sofa on his own, and immediately thought... "this boy totally rocks!" Emma had me hold her up next to him by the couch, so she could appear older, and hope that Cash might take a notice. Cash was playing it cool though, and was like..."Yah, it's no biggie...I've been standing around like this for days now".

So, Cash has inspired Emma to try to start pulling herself up and crawl now too. She is not quite there yet (thankfully--mom and dad need a little more time to hide cords, and cover outlets), but now that she has seen what kind of fun one can have with increased mobility, there is no turning back.

The poser

Emma was showcasing her photo posing talents this past weekend. What's got your eye, Emma? I think Darby was nearby...which always seems to bring a smile to her face.

Yum, Yum, Yum... I like me food!

Emma is 6 months old now (okay...6 1/2 months--I'm a little behind in updating the blog). She has two little teeth poking through, and she is ready to put them to use. She has been practicing her sitting abilities in her highchair for the past month, and just started trying some solid foods this past week. So far we have learned...Avocado-Yuck; Sweet Potatoes-Umm...I might like these; and Rice Cereal-Yummy! That confirms she's my daughter---She loves her carbs.

As you can see from the photos, Emma has mastered the art of eating....or should I say face painting. Bath time is now a given every night....and I'm thinking we should invest in one of those self cleaning houses.

The happy scooter

Emma loves rolling around on the floor these days. She has also learned she can scoot around on the floor (and pretty quickly at that) when her mom and dad put her on the hardwood floors. She made it from the dining room to the living room in no time using her method of "roll, roll, scoot...roll, roll, scoot"--very effective.

I love my electronics!

Are you ready for some football??!!!

It's Packer season again, and Emma is all ready to go. She watched her first football game last weekend, and she enjoyed the game by taking a nap, and trying to grab everything off the table to put in her mouth. All in all...I think she really enjoyed herself. Emma was practicing her game face, but she has a sweet smile to always follow.

Our little Hot Toast!

Can't a girl eat in peace!

We have been putting Emma in her high chair to help get her ready for the solid foods that will be coming soon. Here you see a progression of photos from happy in high chair, to entertaining the guests (mama and papa) at her table with an exciting story (she likes to use her hands to talk too), to giving the photographer an inquisitive glance--wondering what is going on, to showing her disgust with someone taking photos of her while she is trying to enjoy her stuffed green bean.

Actually, we just thought it was really funny how she kept on making this scrunched up face, and breathing heavily through her nose. Being the good parents that we are...the camera is never too far away to capture such moments. We couldn't really decide if she was imitating Ice Man from the movie Top Gun (you all know what scene I'm talking about), or if she was imitating what Darby does when she talks to the birds in our yard.

Now I know my ABC's....

Emma woke us up this morning to her ABC's. She has a stuffed frog attached to her crib that sings the ABC song when you touch it's belly, and she has conveniently learned how to kick this when she is stretching out in bed. She is concentrating mostly on her A's (Ahhhhhh), and O's (Ohhhhhh) right now, but I'm sure she will be reciting the rest of the alphabet real soon. I guess this is better than her waking up crying---but it makes for some interesting dream sequences for Ken and I.

In the spirit of learning, Emma is sportin' her U of MN gear today.
