Ahh yes...our tiny pumpkin was just big enough to make a pie. Emma later informed me she doesn't actually like the pumpkin part--just the crust! Lucky for me...I LOVE pumpkin!
It may look like an ornamental pumpkin, but it is actually a very small pie pumpkin from our garden. When Emma was asked what she would like to make with the pumpkin the answer was none other than...PIE, of course! One teeny tiny pie coming up!
My favorite infancy period has ended. I now have to corral her in my laundry basket if I want to make sure she stays out of trouble while I'm doing chores!
Emma designed a couple of race cars for Addie and herself after we received an Amazon delivery in the perfect size boxes. Emma pretty much busted out of her car after a few sharps turns and a couple of crashes. Addie deconstructed her car by eating it (or at least trying very hard to do so)!
We are taking full advantage of our current non rainy weather, and biking to school when we can. Emma is a very good biker. She prefers to ride with daddy though, as then she gets to ride in the street. When Addie and I take her to school, she has to ride on the sidewalk where we are walking!
This is my favorite part of infancy...happy and safe as she sits up by herself, and enjoys the toys we put within reach! I'll be savoring this time which seems to only last a few weeks!
Emma posing for her first day of school picture. More pics from the classroom to follow, but none with the smiley face she is flashing here. She is excited to start school, but she had a serious look on her face because she didn't want us taking photos of her at school. I guess we are starting the role of being parents that embarrass her from the get go!
Emma was all business when we got to her classroom. She answered the question of the day, posed for a picture with Addie, and waited patiently for us to leave so she could get on with her school career. No tears were shed by her or us. I guess we all were ready for her to start kindergarten!
We enjoyed a fun trip to the neighborhood park to enjoy one of the last warm days of summer! Addie is really enjoying the swings these days, and Emma is getting more adventurous by climbing some of the trees!
Addie had her (delayed) 6 month appointment today. The doctor's comment again was, "How's that giant baby today?" She's topping the charts (growth chart that is) at 28 inches long, and 18# 9 1/2 oz. She is happy and healthy so we are very thankful for that!
Yep...that's huckleberry pie! Since the entire family was as psyched as I was about picking this year, and we in turn got quite a few berries, I thought this should be the year that we actually make a pie (Ken has been asking me to make a huckleberry pie for the past 7 years of picking, so he was due!)
