First (and possibly last) snow of the season

Snow is a novelty since it accumulates but once or twice a year.  The girls are stoked to get their hands on this white stuff.

Addie posing after her first dip in a pool!  She didn't fuss, but her face told us she preferred warm bath water to the cold pool water...and I prefer that temp too!!!

Thanksgiving with the Meyers!

This pre-thanksgiving dinner snooze was courtesy of an all night drive to California.  We couldn't have asked for a better time with our good friends--it was definitely well worth the drive!

9 months and growing

Still topping the charts on height, but trimming down on her weight this month.   She lost the designation of "giant baby", which was bestowed on her by her doctor a couple of visits ago.  I think "happy baby" suits her better anyway!  :-)  9 month stats: Weight: 20# 11oz, Height: 29 1/2 inches.

Ladybug graduation!

Yep,  time is flying by!  Addie is graduating into the advanced "mobile baby" classroom next week.  It's sad to see her growing up so fast.  Plus, we love her teachers in her current classroom, so it's a bittersweet transition for us.  We like the dragonfly teachers a lot though too...so we will keep moving on I guess! 

Sick day

Addie was a bit under the weather all weekend, so as she slept her way back to health in our arms, Emma crafted our family into turkeys, and displayed her artwork in the window for all to see.  

Super school girl!

Emma is sporting her face paint from her super hero after-school crafts class today.  She also decided it was okay for me to take her picture with her honor certificate from school for being a good worker.  She was one of the kindergartners recognized for as being a "star student" for the month of October.  Way to go Super Student!  We're so proud of you!!!

Grammy and Grampy time

The girls kept Grammy and Grampy busy during their visit to us.  Emma got to show them around her new classroom and take Grammy trick or treating.  Lots and lots of fun having grandparents in town--the girls felt spoiled with all the attention they received!

The colors and views at the Japanese Gardens were amazing!  It felt as if we were standing in the middle of a bunch of paintings.

Party girl

So Emma had not one, but TWO costume parties on Halloween!  First her party at school with her kindergarten class--an afternoon filled with a costume parade around school, trick or treating in the gym, yummy snacks in her classroom, and topped off with a few rounds of "Boo Bingo"!  Then in the evening she was off to her friend Rory's house to help celebrate his birthday.  It was super cute seeing all the super heros, skeletons, pirates and princesses eating pizza and cupcakes and getting their trick or treat on!

Or insert your own food themed name for your kiddos!  At any rate, making your own pancakes right at your table definitely scores high as a favorite place for Emma!  Ken and I aren't convinced though.  We rather enjoy someone else cooking our breakfast when we go out to eat!  :~)

It was too beautiful outside not to take a few pics of the girls enjoying the autumn sun!  Emma was the leaf hunter--finding just the right leaves for an art project, and Addie was the taste tester.

Fun times with the Davidson's at the Pumpkin Patch.  The cow train looked super fun, and I think Grandpa Thier and Uncle Nathan should consider building something like this! :)  Addie had fun rolling around in the grass with some pumpkins.  Ken and I enjoyed the apple cider donuts best!

Fall park outing

Natural beauty

It appears Addie was playing a little dress-up, but this sweet look was compliments of her savory beet soup she ate for lunch.  I'm super happy someone else in the house seems to like beets as much a I do!  Addie couldn't get enough of the soup today!

Rory and Emma enjoyed their day off from school with a dance party.  The Easter grass and fabric scraps make the floor extra slippery!

Dad's away in San Fran for work this weekend, so us girls decided to have a fancy candlelight dinner.  I think Addie appreciated me turning on the lights later though--she's more into being able to SEE her food, than the ambiance.

A look of pure satisfaction from a job well done!  I'm just glad we downsized how many books we keep on the bottom shelf!

bike to school

The first official  bike/walk to school day.  Emma biked to school with Dad, and enjoyed some baked treats at school with the other kids who walked and bike today.

Emma is starting to read, and I'm super impressed by her ability to sound words out.  English does not always make sense!
