We had the pleasure to have Elias over for a slumber party. Emma was super excited to have her friend come over to play AND get to stay for breakfast the next morning. Emma has also been doing a great job lately of sleeping in her own bed ALL night long. And after three long years of having a seemingly endless bedtime routine---Emma has started falling asleep on her own too. Mommy and Daddy are super excited with these developments!
We closed out Emma's birthday month with a celebration at the community center with all her friends. Emma loved all the attention. She also loved her cupcake cake....enjoying both a chocolate and "vanola" cupcake. Lucky for us that she burned off all the sugar biking around the gym, and bouncing on the trampoline.
So we are not going to win any awards for our rendition of Happy Birthday....but this is a special treat for Emma, since she loves having people sing Happy Birthday to her, just about as much as she likes watching videos on the blog.
Emma could not wipe the smile off her face after we sang her happy birthday, and grammy brought out her special cake...an ICE CREAM CAKE! Emma was in heaven. Emma has turned into a very independent 3 year old...letting us know she can do most everything herself since she is a "Bee girl" (aka big girl) now.
Emma is a huge fan of her "life jackets" because it allowed her to swim all by herself. And swim she did...back and forth across the pool, on her belly and on her back, and of course topping off her swimming by jumping into the water and making a big splash. It was actually a little difficult to pull her away from the pool--as she had to "dry out" by laying in the sun for a few minutes before we could go back to Grammy and Grampy's house.
We spent a lovely, sunny day at the beautiful Lakes Park. We rode on a miniature train (contrary to how the picture looks, Emma did enjoy her ride on the choo choo), took the quad cycle for a spin, had a picnic lunch, and topped off the day by running through the water park. Lots of fun!
A trip to Fort Meyers beach proved to be just what we needed...sun, warm ocean water to splash in, and soft sand to build sand castles. Later in the day we also made a trip to the lovely Sanibel Island to check out those beaches. We learned that these beaches are THE place to collect seashells...and collect we did. I'm sure Emma will proudly show off her collection to anyone who asks. :)
Although initially intimidated...Emma did warm up to the mechanical camel. Our little actress also put on her fake scary face to appease mommy and daddy during a shark jaws photo shoot! What a trooper!
