Emma meets Aunt Stacy

Emma had her first out of town visitor last week when her aunt Stacy came to visit. They had lots of fun getting to know each other, and we all really enjoyed having Stacy stay with us.

Dyreson Family day 1

Okay, so this blog is not totally chronological, found this in the hundreds of photos that we have so far, and realized this is the only one with all three of us. Day 1 in the hospital.

More Emma Pictures

Happy one week birthday Emma!

Emma celebrated her one week birthday today by meeting her aunt Stacy at the airport, then soon thereafter, projectile vomiting all over the couch, sarah and herself.  She is a total party animal.  Rock on kiddo!
One week into parenting now and things are beginning to start to slow down a little.  Or at the very least things are beginning to have some semblance of a routine again.  Emma is a great eater and sleeper so far, so getting a 3 and sometimes 4 hour stretch of crash time at night has been huge.  Sarah is holding up extremely well, although the trouble walking thing is seemingly not going away as quickly as we had hoped.  Its frustrating for her having others to do things for her, but frankly she deserves a little down time.  Rest and time are the only remedy for her at this moment.  I am doing well- with Stacy here I'll be starting work again tomorrow.  It'll be nice to get back into the world again, but I can tell already that its gonna be tough going a 9-10 hour stretch without seeing my little girl...

Home at last...

Well, we finally all made it home yesterday.  It feels great to be getting settled in with Emma.  She is doing so great, and she is a really good baby thus far (all 4 days old).   She likes to smile alot.  We will try to get some pictures of her while she is smiling...it is just too cute not to share with everyone.  Emma is sleeping 2-3 hours at a time (most nights so far), so I feel as though I am actually getting more sleep than I was getting at the end of the pregnancy.

I am doing well.  I was given a walker at the hospital, so I am now able to walk around the house (getting into the house yesterday was another story...but I made it in just fine).   I can't carry Emma anywhere, but I do get to cuddle plenty with her, so that makes me happy.  I am starting to get some more feeling and movement back in my legs, so the gradual improvement in my symptoms is great.  I am in good spirits, and am very positive that things will be back to normal in no time at all.  Thanks to everyone for keeping me in your thoughts.

Ken is doing great.  He made it through the delivery in one piece and standing upright....I was very impressed.  He was a great support person during labor too.  He is a great dad, and is already making up songs that he sings for Emma...It's very impressive.   Hopefully Emma will get Ken's creative side.  He has been doing double time taking care of Emma and myself so Emma and I feel very lucky to have such a great dad and husband!

Ken will try posting some more pictures in the next day or too.   Thanks to everyone for all the calls and well wishes.  Ken and I feel very fortunate to have such great family and friends!

No baby yet...

MamaD here.  Still no baby.  We have gotten plenty of advice in the past week on how to induce labor, and we have tried them all, but baby D is not quite ready yet.   Ken and I on the other hand are very ready, as well as both Grandma's and Grandpa's, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers...and today we got the call from Clarissa, our hairdresser, who was inquiring on any baby news.  This baby will be very loved, we have no doubt about that.

I did have a wonderful birthday this weekend.  Ken and I went on a great hike through Forest Park on Saturday, and then had a wonderful potluck dinner with friends that night (which included 3 desserts...Yum! and a game of Blokus...Fun!)

Hopefully our next post will include some pictures of our baby.
